The biogeographically
position of Nepal is very reassuming for the fact that Nepal may claim the wealth
of two very large and diverse realms of the worked. i.e., the Pale arctic in the
northern region and the oriental in the southern region. Its location in the central
sector of the Himalayan are further enhances the bioclimatic
diversity due to
the fact that the more humid condition of the eastern Himalayas and the drier
western Himalayas interpenetrates into Nepal, Nepal’s proximity to the tropics
and its topographical and altitudinal range from deep valley to mountain
crests, create condition for the occurrence of Tropical to Arctic climate. All
these facts and factors contribute to make Nepal an important country in the
biodiversity conservation. Therefore, it is but natural to assume that Nepal
has rich repository of biodiversity, but we don’t know how rich neither rich,
nor do is we know what is the price tag for our biological resources.
